Metaverse Summit 2007, Berlin - December
Despite the cancellation of at least 2 virtual worlds conferences in Germany this year, it seems there is still optimism among event organisers. I recently received a notification about Metaverse Summit 2007, to be held at the Estrel Convention Center in Berlin, on 6th and 7th, December. The notification, from Helmut Reul, the organiser, reads:
The Metaverse Summit is a two day conference focused on the emerging Metaverse and 3D-Web. One purposes of the summit is to bring together business leaders, venture capitalists, technologists, and industry participants to spend the two days discussing the present and future of the Internet. Estimated attendees, speakers, moderators are up to 500 from all over the world.
The recently published Metaverse Roadmap Overview looks at four key elements of the Metaverse future. According to this evaluation tracks of the summit are the four key elements:
+ Virtual Worlds
+ Mirror Worlds
+ Augmented Reality
+ Lifelogging
As with other events of this type, vendor space will be provided in which companies can promotes their various wares.
If you want to know more, or participate as speaker or sponsor, then head on over to their website.
[UPDATE: As Bridget points out in the comments below, the summit is not associated with the original Metaverse Roadmap Summit. The Berlin summit lists some findings from that meeting, and gives them proper credit, but the two are not associated.]

wasn’t this the same guy from the first cancelled event?!
Isn’t this like the 4th time they’ve tried to get this off the ground, also note they have no sponsors!
jeez
Hi Mark,
It is important that your readers and potential sponsors understand that this event is NOT affiliated with the Metaverse Roadmap Project.
The Roadmap is a forecasting document created by Acceleration Studies Foundation, an designated non-profit organization.
This event is welcome to expand on the work of the Roadmap but in my opinion they are trying to solicit money and participation by making it look like they are part of the Roadmap Project.
More exploration of the space is great for everyone. Using pretty much exactly the name and text from our materiels in order to profit financially is not.
I’d encourage you to amend your post to note to your readers that this is not accosiated with ASF.
Thanks,
Bridget Agabra

Hi,
apology for the confusion.
To clarification: We never wrote we are part of the Metaverse Project or the Accleration Studies Foundation and we did not want to arouse also the impression.
Thanks Helmut
Helmut, sounds like you’re adding layers of confusion to the entire event. Can you also confirm that you were not part of an original failed attempt to launch a previous conference in Germany?
If not, this maybe something you need to verifying to stop confusion
[…] Plus O’Reilly Web2Open @ Berlin (everything seems happening in Berlin, these days, from our - IDC - ICT Forum to the Metaverse Summit in December, plus other..), and Halo 3 is conquering the gaming space, Dubai is becoming the money hub in the Middle East thanks to NASDAQ and OMX merry-go-round, whilst EU has decided to have virtual-VAT in SecondLife (but to be paid in full, real money…)… innovation?!??!? Please… […]
Peter Davis is absolutely right in his comments. In Helmet Reul’s previous attempts to get a metaverse conference off the ground, he has never published any information on his background/experience as a show manager, despite several requests from content developers to do so.
