The Bridges of Second Life

Second Life resident Forseti Svarog (aka the Electric Sheep Company’s Giff Constable) has put together a cool collection of SL screenshots showing, at last count, 46 bridges that have been built in Second Life, including the quite beautiful example above, from the Svarga region of SL. Forseti’s looking for more, so drop him a landmark in SL if you know of any bridges that aren’t in his set. If he can find enough, maybe he’ll make a book out of them, as he’s done in the past with shots of SL avatars (a physical book) and the great builds of SL (a virtual one).

And, sorry, but it has to be stated for the record again, in doing so, he is taking and idea I gave him more than a year ago, but also not collaborating with me. I don’t expect him to do that anymore, but it’s what you’d call a GOM of sorts. Right, it’s the Internet, you can take anything.
Mmmm… Svarga by Windlight… nice.
Prok, I’ve been painting and photographing my surroundings since I was a kid — those photographs have included people, buildings, abstractions, still lifes, and even bridges! That I would extend this to Second Life is inevitable.
I don’t understand why some people feel a need to claim ownership (and thus theft) of high level concepts that belong to everyone and no one. You’ve been talking about doing a book on bridges over over a year and a half, and because of that I’ve kept my interest in this on the backburner out of some misplaced respect for a fellow writer/photographer.
Your response does nothing more than make me sad. If you truly wanted collaboration, you would interact with me (perhaps the current phrase should be “at me”) in a very different way.
I’m thinking maybe there’s scope for a low-brow, niche market concept like “Armpits of Second Life”
I’m not saying I’d buy it, but trust me on this… there’s bound to be a market. Isn’t there?

Consider the idea “stolen”….
/me marches off to put together the compilation before anyone else can.
LOL @ Aleister, but just to be clear, I don’t make a dime on any of these projects. That’s not why I do them. The avatar photography book is sold at printing cost. Armpits huh… Nate, I’ll race ya ;-)
Where’s the Speed Stick when you need it…
