Don’t miss the Metaverse Meetup this evening at 7pm, where we’ll be back at the Fuse Gallery (93 Second Avenue, between 5th & 6th Streets, through the back of Lit Lounge) for the opening of Destroy Television’s gallery show, which I blogged up a week or so ago. More information from Jerry in several recent blog posts. Should be a hoot, as usual. See you there.

Should be a hoot as *unusual*! I can’t wait to see what the 2pointD crowd who visits will think of it. The art context is great, and I’m glad to be back in it. It definitely opens you up to self-reflection in a completely different way than business and research and the usual web conversations do. The way the show is hung with 30 different photos of DTV’s creative influences and life and history around the installation of the kitchen cabinet with live DTV projection, it’s like the story of Christian and I disappearing into our kitchen cabinet and tumbling into the metaverse to become a part of the network through DTV. I’m as interested as anyone in seeing how this plays out…
We’ll be hanging out with DTV at the gallery most every day for the next 10 days and I hope people keep coming by to be part of the document, real and virtual. We’ll be running all over the grid trying to find as much diversity as possible, putting the whole of Second Life on display, looking at it for what it is, and making that voyage searchable and watchable in a 90-minute time-lapse of 10 days, 240 hours. That’s the plan!
PS That picture of the “IM IN UR DTV…” cat with the pipe, jester hat, and 3D glasses is the first thing anyone ever put up in front of DTV. She’d just gone online and someone walked up to her, read the URL over her head, tuned in to watch himself, took that picture out of inventory, stuck it in front of her face and said, “I knew I had that image for a reason.”
It was magic. :)
