Two SL videos, an interview with Little Big Planet, and the first presidential campaign to have an official SL presence. I suspect headline-writing is going to be the hardest thing about these D-Briefs I’ve started doing. By the way, does anyone have a “briefs” icon I can use for these? Feel free to send it along.

• Former Democratic senator from Alaska Mike Gravel has apparently become the first U.S. presidential candidate to officially set up shop in the virtual world of Second Life, according to Medialoper. Check out the Go Virtual For Gravel blog for more details. The virtual campaign headquarters opened yesterday.

• Aleks Krotoski has a great interview with Leo Cubbin, the Sony exec responsible for Little Big Planet, the PS3 game-building game. Some interesting thoughts on user-generated content and how Sony is handling it in the context of the PS3. (No mention of its Home service, though.) Aleks also teases with the promise of a piece on Acclaim’s user-generated MMO.

• Torley Linden of Linden Lab, makers of Second Life, has posted a YouTube video showing the new sky effects being brought into SL by Windward Mark, the company LL just acquired. The photorealistic sky almost looks jarring beside SL’s rougher 3D assets; what do you think?

• If you missed the mixed-reality show from Virtualive.tv a couple of weeks ago, there are now a series of nicely produced videos on YouTube showing the band Buddahead in Second Life as they play in real life on a screen behind the avatars. It’s a nice way to illustrate the evening, but I do think there’s much more that could be done with SL in terms of music videos. I’m sure it’s on the way.
