TwitterBox in Development For Second Life
The always-awesome Ordinal Malaprop is developing an interface that will let Twitter members post and receive updates from within the virtual world of Second Life. Go, Ordinal! It sounds like there’s already a working version, though it’s in an early stage of development. I want one. I’d love to be able to Twitter my wanderings around Second Life. I like Koz Farina’s BlogHUD system, but I don’t use it because (a) I want to reach people outside Second Life, which I can’t do using BlogHUD from the chat line, and (b) cross-posting to 3pointD from BlogHUD involves composing an unwieldy notecard, which I don’t see the need for. A Twitter interface would combine the ease of posting short Twitters from the chat line, and the range of broadcast that Twitter already features. Totally ace.

Cool idea! Now can the smart programming people do the same thing for IMified, because that allows you to post directly to your own blog (amongst other things), with no character limitations as far as I can see.
Oh…. and were you aware of the Twitter plug-in for Wordpress - http://cogdogblog.com/2007/02/03/twitter-plugin/ ?
Well, the TwitterBox v0.1 should now be available from the freebie box at my home in Caledon 87, 45 - I would post further about it now but I am quite abominably tired and must retire.
Looking forward to checking it out. For a few weeks, I’ve had a working SL script called Twissle written by Kisa Naumova that sends messages from SL chat line to Twitter. Seems all a slick way to bridge inside/outside communication.
Sean, BTW, the WordPress plugin no longer works. I think Twitter changed their API?? who knows? The plugins author threw her hands up in the air. I;ve had no time to dig into the code, but it ouught not to be too hard.
Awesome, I’ve been using one for a few weeks now made by Icon Serpentine. It works fantastical!
Twitting in 3D…
If the technical glitches of one new technology platform aren’t enough for you, your Second Life avatar can now Twitter while in-world using TwitterBox. I couldn’t actually get it to work — as I write this post Twitter seems to be down altogether –…
