Windows Vista Gets Sexy in Second Life

Second Life resident Kitten Lulu amusingly points out that of the 10 locations in Second Life that Microsoft has chosen for Windows Vista’s virtual launch party (at 2pm SL time, featuring Praga Khan), around half of them are places frequented by paid cybersex escorts. Microsoft “Enthusiast Evangelist” Miel Van Opstal has more insight on just why the locations were chosen. The SL launch seems to have been arranged by a European agency (One Agency) that I can’t find a link for. In any case, if you’re interested in seeing how Vista-compatible your Second Life sex life is, check it out. (SLurls here.) [Via World of SL.]

Hi! The One Agency link is at www.one-agency.be. You can find it on Miel’s blog at http://micromiel.com
What a shame that Microsoft didn’t decide to support OpenGL in Vista. This means that users will need to check that the latest updated Vista drivers from their graphics card vendor support their card. If they don’t, they can’t run Second Life.
My computer, which runs Second Life perfectly under both Windows XP and Linux, now won’t run SL. Well done Microsoft.
There’s apparently a workaround for this, but I’m not sure where to find it. Little help here?
I guess somewhere around being hip and “in amongst” the SL crowds they didn’t care much about locking out people from their own spaces (like me, I have land in the same sim as one of those gutter-trash clubs, though luckily I don’t visit there much) with 50 lolling randoms filling the place up for the event.
I don’t blame Microsoft for Second Life not running on Vista, I blame Second Life or ATI.. There.com runs in both OGL and DX8 in Vista without a problem. If There can run in OGL, then it should work for SL… Yet when you ask for support from Linden Labs, their response is it’s not our fault and they point you to an article from October 2006. If you knew about it in October, then why didn’t they do something about it before the launch? They had over 3 months to fix it.
The URL of ONE Agency seems to contain a typo in the first post. It should be www.one-agency.be
