Second Life resident Bolliver OddFellow, speaking on a panel at the Second Life Community Convention this morning, announced the merger 3pointD flagged a few days ago: It turns out Bolliver’s Infinite Vision Media is teaming up with SL resident Hiro Pendragon’s Out of Bounds Software, as well as teaming up with Lichtenstein Creative Media to form a joint venture called Infinity Squared.

Infinite Vision and Lichtenstein, of course, are the people who brought the Infinite Mind radio show to Second Life. Hiro has been well known in-world for some time for his katana, one of the earliest items that were widely popular on the Grid. More recently he’s been responsible for the 3D wiki that’s being used to help design a park in Queens, New York.

While it’s not a tie-up between any of the Big Three, it could create new competition for the larger services companies. It’ll be interesting to see which direction Bolliver, Hiro and Infinity Squared as they try to differentiate themselves from the other players in the space.
