Look Mom, We’re in the Top 10,000
I generally abhor posting about my own traffic stats (this will be the first time I have), but I’ve been waiting so long for this one that it seems worth a bit of hubris. (Actually, I’ve only been waiting three and a half months.) Seems 3pointD.com has finally broken into the top 10,000 blogs on Technorati. It’s at 9,254 right now, to be precise. Of course, I have little idea what this means in the grander scheme of things, but it’s personally pretty gratifying, and is actually really nice to think that so many people are interested in the emerging 3pointD space. That in itself is an interesting business indicator.
It also made excellent news to take to my mom when I saw her earlier today in the hospital, where she’s fighting an uphill battle with cancer, sadly. In the past few months I’ve really cherished any news I can bring her of the various goings-on in my life, and this was a nice nugget to share. (If posting is occasionally slow here on a given day, it’s because I’m spending time with her.) I’d been reluctant to post about my mom, but it seems appropriate to mention in light of the upcoming SL Relay for Life and the SecondCast interview we’re doing with its organizers this week. Plus which, I checked with my mother about it, and she said she’s a firm believer in sharing this kind of thing in the hopes it may resonate with someone who’s going through something similar. That’s what I’ve found almost every time I mention it: either someone has some experience to share that’s helpful to me, or the experience I’m sharing is helpful to the person I’m talking to. So this one’s for you, mom. Happy 9,254.

Congrats on stats, though sorry to hear about your Mom. I wish her well.
Many thanks on both counts, Scott.
Congrats on breaking into the 10000; your success is well deserved I have really enjoyed reading your posts and am always impressed with how fast you dig out the good stuff and how you can tie in disparate technologies and events into the larger 3pointD picture. So here’s to the good stuff up ahead; I’ll be looking forward to it.

Ps. Tell your mom that there are people out here with good thoughts and hopes for her.
Great blog. Check it every day. I’m also a big fan of SecondCast.
I’ll be thinking of you and your mom. It’s amazing that something so big as the Internet, blogging and Second Life can bring us all closer together.
