Cory Doctorow Heading to USC

Starting in September, Cory Doctorow of BoingBoing will have a new address — at least, for a year. He’s been chosen to become the first holder of the Canada-U.S. Fulbright Visiting Research Chair in Public Diplomacy at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, at the University of Southern California, according to a USC press release.
In his new role, Doctorow will collaborate with USC faculty and students, teach a graduate course in public diplomacy, and deliver guest lectures to the wider community. . . . While at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, the scholar will conduct leading-edge research, teach a graduate course in public diplomacy, collaborate with USC faculty and students, and deliver guest lectures to the wider community. Doctorow’s chair is being co-sponsored by USC’s Integrated Media Systems Center.
This should be interesting. Especially given USC’s Public Diplomacy and Virtual Worlds project, which is designed to explore the role of MMOs in public diplomacy. We wish Cory the best of luck and look forward to seeing what comes of this very cool partnership.
